I never knew a mammal could be that old. A hundred thirty years means he's been alive since the eighteen hundreds. It's cool that they can see the type of bullet in his skin and tell how long he has been alive for. Whales must have very tough skin if he can survive that. This was a very interesting article.

Wow, this is so cool! This whale is super lucky for the layer of blubber and bones. After finding this whale, I wonder if there are more like this that have survived hunts. This is really interesting to study. If the whale lived maybe we can make suits with thick blubber to block other weapons. This would really be useful.

I think that this article is really cool, along with the harpoon and whale. I think that it is amazing that the harpoon can survive for that long without it breaking. I also think that it is cool because the whale who still had it survived for a long time. I don't think I have ever heard of a whale surviving this long without anything happening to it.

130 years is an insanely long life. I heard that some turtles can live for hundreds of years as well. I can't believe it survived the hunts of the 1880's. This was very interesting.

This is one amazing whale! He survived for 100 years at least with a harpoon stuck near his neck! I've heard of turtles and oysters that lived for hundreds of years, but this was a new fact for me. The blubber in the whales must be very tough to withstand the harpoon, and I saw that the harpoon was explosive. That whale was really lucky it didn't go off. I think that what Emory said was a great idea, about making suits with blubber. The only problem is that you would have to kill many whales and whale numbers are decreasing. So all-in-all that might not be a good idea, unless we come up with a synthetic type of the blubber. Whales are truly incredible animals!

I wonder how old the whale would have been if the hunters hadn't killed him. It would have been very interesting to see what he did. About the harpoon, what if it was made in 1880 but was sitting around in an attic for the rest of the time. About Emory's idea, wouldn't the blubber be really heavy? If we could make synthetic blubber like Anthony said the it would be a really good idea. It would have to be really light weight though. Our soldiers are already carrying a lot of stuff what with guns and all so I think the less weight the better. You also have to think about cost. How much would it cost? Would it really be worth it?
