A doting caecilian mother coils around her eggs, which will hatch out mini-adults within two to three months.

I can see why some people would be disturbed by this post, but I find the little worms cute! Go annelids! Or is it chordata? While these worms are cute, they're also confusing. They appear to be worms, yet they have a backbone!

These Caecilians look like earthworms. It's interesting that the babies can get extra nutrition boosts from their mom's back eating dead skin. It is amazing how big caecilians can get. I read that caecilians can grow to 7 in. to 4.5 ft. I can't imagine stepping on a 4.5 foot caecilian. Oh well, I guess it won't happen as they live underground in Northern India. It is interesting how this creature evolved, they are part worm and part amphibian.

I can't believe we just discovered these puzzling animals. It's cool that although they are amphibians, they do not develop like other amphibians. The translucent eggs probably helped the scientists to study more without disturbing the eggs. I agree with Samantha that it's interesting that they eat the mother's dead back skin for nutrition.
