Burmese pythons let loose in the Florida Everglades are a problem for the swamplands’ alligators and mammals.

Wow! This is really interesting. I knew pythons could eat a lot but I never thought they could swallow an eighty pound deer! This could be a problem if there are not enough mammals in Florida because these snakes are eating them all. This was a really cool article.
thats crazy! I never knew that one python could eat that much! I find it amazing. Though, it it is sort of freaky because 80 pounds is thee size of most little kids.
Oh my god, the science behind how a python can eat that without getting indigestion myst be mind-blowing. It is a bad thing that the mammal population is down because that could activate a chain of events that could mess up the whole food chain in Florida.
This python is huge compared to others. http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/snakes/p/burmesepython.htm says that this specific type of python can be 15 to 20 feet while others such as the ball python can be 18 inches at the most.
This is a super cool article. I wonder where they put the pythons when they take them out of the area. I was also very amazed about the fact that they can eat an 80 pound deer. Poor deer!
This article was really interesting! I never would think that one snake could eat so much. This could become a problem though. The snakes could eat to many animals disrupting the Florida food chain
I knew that pythons could eat 80 pound deer, but I didn't know that they could eat an alligator! I mean, alligators can be pretty vicious when they need to be, and I didn't know a python would even be able to match them, much less kill one! I didn't think that the pythons would eat so much as to disrupt the amount of mammals in Florida! That is very extreme. I think that the pythons should either be removed or something should be done before their eating habits mess up Florida's entire ecosystem.
Ok. Weird!! 80-pound deer! Thats crazy!! Pythons scare me and this one will haunt me for the rest of my life. Agh!! Goodbye cruel world. Just imagine that you might be an eighty pound deer and you see this python. You will propabllay think its harmless. Then all of the sudden, you have been eaten by it! I am screwed for life!! If I hear there is a python near bye, I will scream and take cover.
The problem is the illegal pet trade of rare and exotic animals. In this case, it’s the smuggling of baby pythons. People keep them when they’re small, but when they get bigger, they abandon them. It’s not their natural habitat, so they eat whatever food they can find in the area.
Little kids weighing 80 pounds? I'm 11 and a half and I'm 58 pounds! Anyways, this would have been a very interesting post, besides the fact that they never mentioned how the pythons got there.
It's incredible that a snake only a couple inches wide could eat one of the kids in our class! My friend used to have a snake and I saw it eat a mouse before... I remember looking at the big lump moving in its body and thinking that it was amazing how it can eat things wider than itself. I also wonder how it can open its mouth so wide to swallow deer.
Ava, snakes have something like a double jointed jaw and they can open it up to 180˚ anyway this is a very good post but like Luca said it would have been more intersting if they would have told us where they where brought from

Cool, pythons can sure eat a lot. They can eat several more than their own weight. I can only eat like a couple lobsters if I'm really hungry.

It's amazing that just one predator can screw up an entire ecosystem. It just goes to show how fragile nature is.
