Wow! I learned a lot more about polar bears after I read this article. I never knew that polar bears only lived for 20 to 30 years. I was also surprised that polar bears could eat whales. Whales are so much bigger than polar bears, It was surprising that they ate them. I thought it would be the other way around. I think it is very sad that people are hunting polar bears even thought they are only 25,000 of them left on earth. I hate when people kill animal for their skin. This article was very sad. I hate how their homes are being destroyed because of the ice melting.

This article was very interesting. I think it is terrible that, in the article, it said that by mid-century, two thirds of the polar bears may be extinct! I don't know why people would want to hunt polar bears. They aren't a threat, and they even balance out the seal population. I learned in this article that polar bears are huge! They take up a lot of room on icebergs, so we need to try to carpool and not drive as much. We can also walk to places that are close enough.

Wow! Polar bears are really amazing animals! I did not know that the biggest polar bear was over one ton. It is very said that they are endangered because global warming is destroying their habitat. I can't believe that polar bears do not live in Antarctica.

I wonder how Polar Bears can have 2 layers of fur! Is one on top of the other? Is there a hair growing on a hair? Anyway, this article was so sad. I can't believe that people are still hunting Polar Bears, they're going to be gone in a century if we don't stop. If they kill off the Polar Bears, then might hunt seals. I also can't believe that they ate a 350 year old carcass, I can't imagine that there was a lot left.

Nice article Ava! I actually thought that polar bears live in Antarctica! It's so sad that there're only about 20,000 polar bears living in the world. Imagine if there were only that many humans living in the world! That would be weird. There would have to be a severe sickness going around or something because humans don't taste very good anyway. I hate poachers! >=[ I mean, have you ever tasted polar bear? Gross! I wish we could do something about it like a save the polar bears campaign.

I donate to The National Wildlife Federation, The Nature Conservancy and I support most battery powered car brands so that they are able to find out more on how to make non-fuel consuming cars. If you go to the top of the webpage you can see a button saying "adopt a polar bear" click that and you can make a donation I just made a $20.00 donation so I hope that will help them save the bears

We need to focus on what we can do to help the polar bears survive extinction. We need to find ways to slow down global warming and the loss of sea ice. The polar bear populations should be protected and studied more carefully. I am also concerned that the polar bear doesn't reproduce very quickly. The article says that they have one of the slowest reproductive rates of any mammal. They only have about five litters in their lifetime. This means that the polar bear can become extinct pretty quickly. Since man is responsible for destroying its environment, man needs to help them to survive.

Wow that is very interesting. I hope that polar bears never become extinct. There life spans are so short! It's amazing that they give birth at such a young age. Also, why would people want to hunt polar bears? Like Ava D. said, they aren't really a threat unless we bother them. They are so huge! As Ava S. said, it is really sad that only 25,000 of them are left on Earth. We should try to help by helping global warming.

I had no idea polar bears were so unique! There were so many interesting facts in the article! (espicially the one about polar bears eating beluga whales!)

There are so many things that I never knew about polar bears. Who knew that twins are most common when a mother gives birth? Or that the average length of time for a polar bear to live was around 17 years? And that some polar bears became cannibals because of food stress?

This proves that all actions that are not thought through have consequences. I hope scientists find a way to stop the polluting air that all of our cities give of before we talk about polar bears the same way as dinosaurs.

I think this is really cool. I never actually thought that much about polar bears before. I think it's interesting and also a little surprising that they can eat whales, because whales are so large compared to polar bears. It is really sad that people hunt them for their fur- it's like what happened to the baby harp seals, the ones with the fur that everyone wanted for coats and things. It's also sad that there are only 20,000 left in the world. Are there any conservation programs for polar bears?
