Interesting though for the algae to adapt and evolve, they would need to be in a new place like land. Algae didn't only gather energy from the sun but the minerals in the water. Without water, I'm surprised they survived and without plants at the time, there would be less Oxygen which is needed for water so I'm amazed that they survived before. Talking about evolutions, arthropods(spiders, lobsters) were the first creatures to evolved to land but were carnivore so how did they survive?
You can tell that aliens don't exist because astronauts have been coming back and forth to space and there as no sign of any alien specie contact in space.
We shouldn't forget that millions of years ago the earth's atmosphere was very different from today. It was a very different planet. It's amazing to trace the evolution of green plants and discover the closest living relative to land plants: Zygnematales. I like it when there is new scientific evidence that changes what we know. Maybe there will be new evidence in the future about where land plants came from that will change our views again!
Plants have been among the earth for large periods of time. The thing that is now thought to be what plants evolved from is said to be a lot like the plants that are in modern time so how could such a complex organism now be from the past where nature wasn't as evolved.
Ya. I was thinking, what a funny thing that we just studied this in class. But then I looked at you posted this. And it was Ms. Ghazarian who posted this, so I believe she did this on purpose. The ancestors of plants are blue-green algae. WIthout reading the article I was able to answer that right away, thanks to Ms. Ghazarian's keynote about plants. It was helpful. The blue-green algae came from the water and washed up onto the shore so the algae had to adapt to the temperature and climate around us. That quick 2-3 day plant study was really helpful.
I can't believe that what we've thought for a very long time was just proven wrong. It must be very hard for the scientific discoverer to accept the true fact.
I think it's cool how plants evolved from blue green algae. And like Lola said, all of this information will be proven wrong in just a little bit of time. Science is moving so quickly!

Funny. We just researched what their ancestors are. It's blue-green moss or algae.
This is very interesting. Science just keeps getting revised. And it is funny that we just learned about plants ancestors.

Aliens are most likely to not be existing in the universe but there may be other life like plants.

Wow... Like Caroline said things that we think we know are changing rapidly. In 10 years this will all probably be proven wrong.

That's interesting, it must be hard to trace evolution back so far.

I think that is pretty cool because we just studied plants this week.
I think that is true because algi is plant related so I think that they evolved from algi to plants.
