WOW. I knew that the Wii was good for some movements. But, I never knew that it could make you really healthy. Now, if you sit on the couch and you do not get up and do the movements then it is not good for you. But, if you get up and you jump up and down and do all the movements you will get most of the exercise that the game offers. A game that might be better to use if you want to exercise and play at the same time would be the Kinect for the Play Station. In Kinect there are no remotes. You are the remote. So if you start playing and you want to sit down, too bad. You are already checked into the game of Kinect. My friends and I played "Wipe Out" on the Kinect and we had to jump and run and stretch. It makes you work. So, if I were you and you wanted to get exercise than I would choose the Kinect over the Wii.

As I said in my other comment I feel that the WII is not an Officiant exercising tool. The Kinect is a way better and officiant way to exercise.

I can't believe that the Wii can be good for your health. I mean, real excersize is still probably better for you, but I think it is cool that you can lose weight by playing video games. Julia said that the Kinect could be better for you over Wii, but in the Kinect you get much less excersize. In Kinect, all you have to do is jump and move side to side. With the Wii, you have to move your arms and legs and any other parts of your body.

Although the Wii might help you with exercising, looking at a Tv for too log can't be good for our eyes. A few weeks ago there was a blog topic that showed how watching fast-paced Tv could make you less concentrated so wouldn't the even more fast-paced Wii have an even bigger impact on your concentration

I agree with Julia. The Wii is great, but Kinect is much better (and by the way it is for the Xbox 360.) With the Wii you have the alternative of sitting down which many people may do, but with Kinect you have no choice but to be active. I have a couple of games for Kinect and they really get me working. Also, there are some very prominent exercise games on both consoles that prove this point even farther. However this article is very old, as it said "after the debut of the Wii" and the Wii is probably about 4 or 5 years old now. For the time frame when the Wii was debuted, it was the best for exercise, but now many things are better such as Kinect and PlayStation Move. I think that this article is good prove on how video games can make you healthier, but not really specifically for the Wii.

Cool! This means that I have an excuse for my parents! But seriously, I never knew that the Wii could actually help you lose weight, I mean I thought about it, but I never thought it was true. I agree with Julia, and disagree with Ben by saying that I believe that the Kinect probably gives you a better workout. In, Kinect you have to leap and jump and do all that. I also found it interesting that it helps in kids who have celebreal palsy. That's a big breakthrough. I hope my parents will accept my excuse!

This is really cool! It shows that video games can help keep you healthy, but I didn't think they would help THIS much! I think more video games should become like this, where you move around and get exercise.

This was really cool! I never knew wii could make you fit and healthy. Exercising outside, like playing a sport is probably better, but still, this is really cool. If people are complaining about being sore, the answer is they just need to exercise more. A lot of mornings I wake up and am very sore, because of heavy conditioning at gymnastics the night before. I thought it was cool that they could develop a game that would help kids be better at moving a paralyzed side on their body.

I agree with Esther. It is really surprising how much it helps to play Wii.

I think that the wii is good for your health because you have to move a lot so you are able to win the game.
I once played the wii and it was very tiring but fun.I can't believe that technology today his so hi-tech that even by a video game you could get healthy and fit.

I love video games and my favorite video game is the wii ,for example if your mom is not allowing you to play any video games at the time being you can play the wii because it is good exercise unlike other video games .If you also want to lose some weight all you have to do is play the fun physical game every day for ten to fifteen minutes all in a phew months and wala!

This is an interesting article. I always thought that the whole wii is good for you thing was an excuse to sell wiis. It doesn't really matter which is better kinect or wii because they are both good and it only matters that a gaming system is good for you. I agree that this could give you some exercise but it is always good to get some fresh air. I think this is a good way to get kids to exercise instead of sitting around watching tv all day. It is a good sign that it makes some people sore because that means you've been exercising, but it also can mean that you need to exercise more and your body isn't used to exercise enough. Although I don't care which is better kinect or wii I do agree with Julia in that if you don't have a remote you can't just sit down and do it. I think there are some things that you can do on the wii that you can't sit down with. I also think that this is a great motivation for kids because kids always like to get high scores on video games or games like this and if you want to get a high score then you'll play more and try harder therefore you will get better exercise. Overall I think that it is really cool that you can get exercise on the wii and it has shown great results that I have heard of.

I believe that overall, I like both Kinect and Wii. With kinect, you can do more with your body and exersise. However Wii is more interactive. I have a game called wii motion plus, and there is a game were the wii virtually sends out invisible UFO's around the room. You have to run around the room and shoot them, it is very active.

I think that this article makes a lot of sense, but only if you really want to lose weight, not if you want to excel in the game.I know that when I am playing Wii with my friends they always have a way to do the activity without much exercise, so there really is no point in doing it. Also, in many Wii games you don't have to move your legs. You just stay in one spot and move your arms. Another thing is that if you look at the screen for a long time it'll hurt your eyes so that is another downside. About Jordan's UFO game, that is one game that not many people have heard of, so it can only affect a small amount of people. Also most people don't just play one game, so while that game might keep you very active for a short period of time, it probably won't have you losing major pounds.
