Why Huge Dinosaurs Had Such Tiny Babies

By Emory Kim

Egg-laying may have helped dinosaurs get big, but it didn't help their survival in the end.

I had never even wondered about why dinosaurs had such small offspring, but now I know that the question does exist and that it is because their eggs had to be small. It is so interesting that since the eggs could not be enormous, since they would break, they evolved so that both the eggs and offspring were smaller. This article was so cool!

This was a very interesting article. It is very funny to think that such a small creature came from another huge creature. It had never occurred to me that the size of the dinosaur depends on the thickness of the shell. I wonder why birds are not evolving into smaller animals.

This was interesting, for some reason I never thought about the embryo having to breathe!

When I thought about when I thought about Dino Babies size, I think: Duh, Babies are small because their babies! But it is amazing how evalution brought them down. Die Dinos!

I never even knew, let alone questioned why dinosaurs had such small offspring! This was a really interesting article because I never knew it was because their eggs had to be small.

Although I always knew that dinosaurs had small offspring, I never knew why dinosaurs had small offspring. The claymation in the video was really interesting. They did a good job of conveying the message.

This was really interesting. I never liked dinosaurs and I sure did not research them so this was very cool. Ha ha to Jordan. I love your blogs. The are so funny!

It's really cool that because of the huge amount of animals, the birds couldn't really get any bigger. I never realized mathematical calculations to simulate what would happen to the adults and offspring of the animals. I don't really understand the whole thing where one cannot have a big egg with a thin shell, otherwise it would simply break open. Thank you for the article, Emory.
